Roy Paul Freed, 74, of Rockville, passed away Monday, January 12, 2026, at his residence.

He was born March 27, 1951, at home in Rockville, Indiana, to the late Millard Fillmore Freed and Mary Ellen Griffin Freed. Roy was a 1970 graduate of Rockville High School.

Roy retired from AET in Terre Haute (formerly Hercules), where he worked for 39 years. He also worked briefly at Formflex in Bloomingdale, Indiana. Over the years, Roy was well known in the community for mowing yards for many people.

Survivors include one son, Michael Freed of Rockville; two daughters, Kelly Freed of Rockville and Kristin (Josh) Coons of Crawfordsville; one brother, David (Susan) Freed of Rockville; and a stepsister, Peggy Bollinger.

Roy enjoyed watching old western movies, especially John Wayne films, along with action movies. He also enjoyed following sports on television and was a fan of football, basketball, and baseball, particularly the Indiana Pacers. He liked spending time gardening. When his children were young, he especially loved taking family vacations, including trips to Walt Disney World, Six Flags, Indiana Beach, Holiday World, and Dollywood.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 17, at Gooch Funeral Home, 112 West Howard Street, Rockville, with Pastor Jon Overbey officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Garden Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
