Mike is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Janice (Maynard), whom he married September 4, 1976. He is also survived by his daughter, Jennifer (Mike) Simpson; his son, Joe (Angie) Neeley; sister, Gail (Dion) Patrick; brother, Pat (Noiy) Neeley; grandchildren Reece (Morgen Tinkle) and Emma Simpson; along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, David Neeley.
Mike was a 1968 graduate of Cascade High School. He was a Vietnam War veteran serving in the US Army. Mike retired after 40+ years in the agronomy cooperative system. He served as school board president of the Rockville Community School Corporation as well as, serving as a board member of the North Central Parke Community School Corporation.
While the family lived in the Crawfordsville area, Mike’s passion was raising and breeding Simmental cattle. Later on, Mike found a love for riding Harleys with “The Boys” and he was a wonderful host who made sure everyone felt welcome at “The Ponderosa.” Mike was quite the craftsman with a piece of his handiwork in all the families’ homes and in multiple places throughout the community. Most of all, Mike had a deep love for his family. He enjoyed family vacations, watching his children and grandchildren’s sporting events, and he loved making Sunday breakfast for the family.
