DELBERT RAY "D.R." SMITH, 75, died November 16, 2003, in Dallas. He was born Aug. 2, 1928, in Rockville, Indiana, to Myron R. & Clotine Smith. D.R. was raised in Rockville, Indiana. He came to Waco, TX, in 1950 and served in the Air Force during the Korean War from 1950-1954. He graduated from Baylor University in 1959 and then moved to Dallas in 1971 to work for the City of Dallas, where he retired after 21 years. D.R. was a member of Baylor Masonic Lodge #1235, and Lancaster Park Baptist Church. Surviving him are his wife of 52 years, Frances Smith of DeSoto; daughter and son-in-law, Mary & Keith Durst of DeSoto, son & daughter-in-law, Ronald & Debbie Smith of Gatesville, TX, and daughter Brenda Smith of Dallas; grandchildren, Misty & husband Harry Myers, Frances Lynn Smith and Delbert Smith; great-grandchildren, Richard & Victoria Myers. Also surviving are his brothers, Myron J. Smith, John W. Smith, Robert F. Smith & wife Jean, & Thomas J. Smith; and sisters Norma J. Loden, Betty L. Wright & husband Mike, Emily J. McDonald & husband Bill, and Linda K. Phillips & husband Don. Funeral services are 10:00 AM, Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2003, at Jaynes Memorial Chapel with Rev, Albert Lee Green officiating. Burial will follow in Waco Memorial Park, Waco, at 3:00 PM. Visitation with the family is 7-9 PM, Tuesday, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions my be made to the American Cancer Society.
