
Carolyn Coleman Searight passed peacefully Sunday, January 26, 2025, with family by her side.
She was born April 13, 1930, to Clarence and Lily M. Coleman Indianapolis. She met the love of her life, John L. Searight, and was married in 1954. It was a marriage that would last until John's passing in 2011.
Carolyn had an idyllic childhood in Rockville. She was an only child and was very active in the Rockville community. She was an avid piano player, loved to play for sing alongs with her high school friends. She was a graduate from DePauw University in 1952 with a degree in education. Carolyn was a member of the Alpha Omicron Pi, Theta Chapter. She taught grade school in the West. Lafavette school system.
She and John made a verv comfortable home for them in Irvington starting in 1963. She was active in the Irvington Union of Clubs and a founding member of the Irvington Young Mothers Club. Carolyn enjoyed reading, music and gardening. She and John took over her family farm in Mansfield in 1965. She and her family made many memories at "The Farm" last spring celebrated 200 years ot tamilv ownership, receiving the Hoosier Homestead Bicentrnnial Award from the State of Indiana.
Carolyn had a delightful sense or humor and was always kind and had a smile for everyone. She will be truly missed by all that knew her. A special thanks to her caregivers, Robin Robertson and Unity Zinyowera for their loving care.
She is survived her children Michael (Trish) Searight, Susan (David) Hansen, Sally Searight (Bob Smith)and Sandra (Hal) Page; eleven grandchildren, Meghan. Drew and Madeline Searight, and Emeline (Scott) Thompson, Chris (Maggie). Matt. and Jacob Hansen. Olivia, Abby, Isaac and Coleman Page; great-grandchildren, Caroline and Lucy Thompson.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Services were held Saturday, February 1 at the Irvington Presbyterian Church. Internment was to follow the service at Mount Moriah Cemetery, Hollandsburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may he made in her name to the Irvington Historical Society.
