Ray Harney

ROCKVILLE-Ray Allan Harney, 88, of Rockville, Indiana passed away Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care in Terre Haute. He retired from IBM in Terre Haute. He was born July 10, 1933 in Montgomery, West Virginia to the late Homer Ray Harney and Olive Mae Starkey Harney. His wife of 51 years, Linda Thompson Harney whom he married January 31, 1958 in Rockville preceded him in death November 21, 2009. 

Survivors include three daughters, Lisa (Richard) Fox of Terre Haute, Melanie (Timothy) Van Winkle of West Terre Haute and Amy (David)Young of Salem; one son, Andrew Harney; grandchildren, Jenny Lynn Fox, Matthew Allen Fox, Derick Thomas Fox, Crystal Gayle (Robbie) Bauer, Christopher Eric Martin, Jordan Allan Van Winkle, Aaron David (Susan) Harney, Nathan Lee (Mandy) Harney, Kelsey David Young and Colin Leslie Baugh; great-grandchildren, Kiersten Marie Layton, Gavin Andrew Bauer, Colten James Layton, Braydin Matthew Bauer, Kamryn Jean Martin, Rileigh Michael Bauer, Audree Michelle Bauer, Camden Allan Burris, Sarah Ann Harney, Douglas Andrew Harney, Angel Marie Kearschner and Neveah Nicole Empie; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Kearsti Lynn Martin and Adam B. Harney. 

He was a 1951 graduate of Rockville High School. He served with the U.S. Navy. He attended the Rockville First United Methodist Church. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, farming, herbs, politics and was a constitutionalist. 

Services will be 1:00 pm Thursday, September 16, at Gooch Funeral Home, 112 W. Howard Street, Rockville with Pastor Timothy Van Winkle officiation. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Terre Haute. Visitation is 11:00 am until 1:00 pm Thursday at Gooch Funeral Home.
