IN MEMORY OF BARBARA MCFADDIN

"To Barbara"

All was in tune --
Young voices blended in harmony
As they were accompanied
Perfectly on the piano.
Reverence, gayety, joy
Were interwoven in the air;
Then, suddenly,
The Director called her from the room --
But as she left, her sparkling eyes
Said to the children,
"Keep on singing".

Mrs. McFaddin. How can I write a tribute to such an awesome teacher. She was so generous with her patience for those of us (like me) who were tone deaf from birth. She never made me feel less than worthy. She was always willing to keep on guiding her students even after the bell rang.

As pictured in my profile she helped a group of aspiring broad way performers reach for the stars. I know I speak for all us Merry Maids when I say, we couldn't have won that contest without her. We were totally in shock! I will never forget the song we sang, the hit tune. "She'll be Coming Round the Mountain." YEHAW And we were good. It was FUN. She made us believe in ourselves...at least I can say that was true of me. When she died, I lost my hero.

I know you're keeping those angels in tune, Teacher!

What a neat lady. A life cut short, way too short. What a sad day, not only for Gail, John and Nancy, but for all the students who knew her and had the priveledge of singing along with her under her guidance. People like Barbara McFadden live on within each of us through our memories of her determination to "get it right and enjoy the moment". She touched us all. Keep on singing.

Mrs. McFaddin was so pretty and so talented. She made us all feel capable. We started a triple trio and I was lucky enough to be in it. I wish I could hear us as we were then. I think we must have been good because we sang for several groups, and we got a first at State.

What can one say about such a tragic loss to her family and to her students? I have no words.
She is fondly and respectfully remembered by me as one of my very favorite teachers.

Thanks for adding the tribute poem. My mom died when I was five, so unfortunately I have very few memories of her. I DO remember this poem - I remember when I was younger I would read this, and it would make me feel really good to know that my Mother had been so inspirational to others. I feel very fortunate to have had a mom who touched so many with her passion for music.

What a wonderful lady! Rockville students were truly blessed to have been touched by this beautiful person.

We'll always remember her.

Although I was only in choir one or two years with Mrs. McFaddin I remember her as a wonderful music teacher and person. I was devastated when told she had died. Choir was never the same and the teachers that came after her couldn't compare.

Music has always been a big part of my life.... and I know why. I remember hearing Mrs. McFaddin playing the piano at my house during some of my mom and dad's parties. It was wonderful and exciting to hear a real person play so professionally. She was the music teacher at school, and such a beautiful, interesting, and talented teacher.I really wanted to please and learn from her. I was very saddened by her death, and felt much grief for my friends,Gail,John and Nancy. She has forever given me a part of her that will live inside my heart.
