Does anyone else remember where Mrs. Seward/Turpin stored her Kleenex????? She was always very kind to me but we all knew she meant business in her class.

It was in her bra, wasn't it? Or mabey in her sleeve.

You are exactly right, Monte! She kept it in her bra. All of us girls had to keep ourselves from laughing out loud everytime she went digging for the Kleenex.

She was extremely strict but also very kind. We lived down the street ( York Street for just a few months) from her house and she let me babysit for her grandkids a couple times. I felt very special that she would trust me.

MS. SEWARD KNEW I STRUGGLED IN ALGEBRA. SHE ALWAYS HELPED ME TO SEE THE SOLUTION.

Hidden behind the strict demeanor was one of the kindest and caring teachers. She had this really great dry sense of humor. After first semester of Algebra I was really worried about if I was passing this could mess me up for sports. So I waited in the hall before class to see if she might tell me if passing was in the cards for me. I asked her if she had figured grades yet. She looks at me and tells me I have a C. She says you know Jon I would like to give you an A. So I say just do it I don't care. I thought she was going to wet her pants she was laughing so hard. After that we were kinda pals. In class she would give a problem and say OK let's just do it and look over at me and smile. I would mow her and Carl's yard in the summer and always stop and visit a minute going to the pool. Sometimes she had cookies! Thank goodness she taught as she did, it really helped later in Physics class. When I would stop by on the way to the pool I would enter into Carl's accounting office and ask Carl where was his main squeeze and Mrs Turpin would come in from the living room she would have a little smile. I think she liked that.
