Born in Clinton, IN on May 3, 1938
 

Departed on Nov. 21, 2009 and resided in Rockville, IN.

ROCKVILLE- Linda A. Harney, 71, of Rockville died at 7:44 am Saturday, November 21, 2009 in Union Hospital at Terre Haute.  Linda passed away of heart complications.

She was a homemaker.

She was born May 3, 1938 in Clinton, Indiana to the late Ray Thompson and Lucille Kellams Thompson.

Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Ray A. Harney whom she married January 31, 1958 in Rockville; also surviving, three daughters, Lisa (Richard) Fox of Terre Haute, Melanie (Timothy) Van Winkle of Terre Haute and Amy Harney of Rosedale; one son, Andrew Harney; eight grandchildren, Jenny, Matthew and Derick Fox, Chrystal Layton, Sgt. Christopher (Cristina) Martin, Aaron Harney, Jordan Van Winkle and Nathan Harney; three great-grandchildren, Kiersten and Colten Layton and Kamryn Martin;

She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Kearstie Lynn Martin and Adam B. Harney.

She was a 1956 graduate of Rockville High School and attended Indiana State Teachers College. She was active with the Rockville Alumni Association and reunion planning. She was a member of the Rockville First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, served as a church trustee, Rockville Current Literature Club, Gamma Sigma Chapter of Rockville Tri-Kappa, and Spring Creek Home Economics Club in Terre Haute. She was employed at Aunty Patty's Antiques on the Rockville town square. She loved to rug-hook, garden, travel, and camp and enjoyed the beach.

Memorial services are 6:00 pm FRIDAY, DECEMBER 4, 2009 in Rockville First United Methodist Church, 128 N. Market St. Rockville, with Pastor Ed Fisher officiating.

A private family service will be held at Gooch Funeral Home with her son-in-law Timothy Van Winkle officiating and burial following in Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Terre Haute.

GIRL FRIEND, I WILL MISS YOU. WE WORKED VERY WELL TOGETHER ON THE ALUMNI PROJECTS. SORRY IT HAD TO END. WE MADE A GREAT PAIR AND I THINK WE WOULD OF HAD A NOTHER GREAT REUNION IN 2011. I REMEMBER WHEN YOUR FOLKS HAD THE GROCERY STORE AND I WOULD COME UP THERE AFTER SCHOOL AND WE WOULD SIT IN THE OFFICE AND PLAY OFFICE. YOUR PARENTS WERE REALLY NICE PEOPLE. IT IS HARD TO BELIEVE THAT SOMEONE SO VITAL IS NOT HERE ANYMORE. YOUR PAL. MARY CATHERINE
