Glenn Cottrell - Class Of 1969

Bishop Glenn Russell Cottrell, 66, of Rockville passed away at 2:49 p.m. Monday, November 27, 2017, at the Union Hospital in Terre Haute. He retired from Public Service Indiana after many years of services. He was born April 29, 1951, in Clinton, to Russell C. Cottrell and Betty Lou Thomas.
Survived by his wife, Elizabeth Jean Cottrell, married Nov. 22, 1996, who was his true love of 27 years. Survivors also include two daughters, Glenda Sue (Henry) Villegas and Alisia Dawn Cottrell; his sister, Rosemary (Kenny) Cunningham; aunt, Margaret Thomas of Danville, Ill.; grandsons, Zachary Clouse, Drew Craft and Dylan McMullen; lifetime friend and brother, John Brant; and a host of relatives, nephews, nieces, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and friends.
He was saved and filled with the holy ghost under the Rev. Stonecypher in Dec. 17, 1984. He became Bishop May 25, 2007, under the Bishop Richard Rittens Sr. He continued under his present Pastor Patrick D. Fortson Sr. at the Refuge Church of Jesus Christ. Bishop Cottrell enjoyed going to church, listening to the word, attending praise and worship service as wells as bringing souls into the church. He was never ashamed of telling you about his Lord. He enjoyed hunting, his family and dearly loved his grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Darrell W. Cottrell; and sister, Margaret Thomas.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017, at the Refuge Church of Jesus Christ, 2200 Wabash Ave., Terre Haute, with Pastor Patrick D. Fortson Sr. Calling hours are from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Cremation and inurnment will be private at a later time. Russell Funeral Home assisted.
