Edna was my grandmother. After graduating from Rockville High School, she went on to teach in a one-room school in Mecca, Indiana when she was 18 years old. The school was relocated to the Big Raccoon River covered bridge area in Mecca and you can visit it today. When she was in her middle age, Grandma Edna went back to school at Indiana State to obtain her bachelor's degree so she could continue teaching, which was her greatest joy in life. She went on to teach elementary grades at Mecca for many years along with my other grandmother, Thelma Lewman. It is no wonder my parents demanded that my four siblings and I maintain a level of excellence in school. We all graduated from her alma mater, Rockville High School and all of us were recognized by the National Honor Society and served as the President of the Latin Club. All of her grandchildren graduated from college and most obtained post-graduate degrees. All of her great-grandchildren also obtained a college degree. She would be so proud. PS - Edna's married name was Edna Baldwin, not Gosborn. Her sister, Edith married a Goshorn and that may be why she is listed as Edna Sylvester Gosborn. Her parents were Catherine Darragh and Samuel Sylvester, both of whom were Irish. Her husband's name was Claude Baldwin.
