Cory Michael Burnett, 37, of Rockville, Indiana passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at his residence after battling a brief illness. He was born January 19, 1988, in Danville, Indiana to Steven Burnett, I, and Sara Williams Burnett, who survive. 

Cory is also survived by his high-school sweetheart and devoted and adoring wife, Janice whom he married April 7, 2011; as well as his sister April (& Eric) Becher of Brownsburg, sisters-in law Angie (& Elvis) Page, Dawn Walters, Kerrie (& Rylee) Carr, and Kayla (& Mike) Fultz and brother in-law Matt ( & Kayla) Ferguson. He was the funnest uncle to his 9 nephews and 3 nieces. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Charles and Mary Williams, his paternal grandparents, Elmer and Louella Burnett, and his big brother Steven in 2021 and his brother- in-law Josh Walters. He was a 2007 graduate of Rockville High School. 

Growing up, Cory never turned down a chance to participate in any Jackass-type shenanigans with his childhood friends, who tamed their tricks as they got older but stayed deeply connected with him. He loved his family fiercely, bringing the laughs to all of the gatherings and always wanting to know what’s for dinner, but still arriving an hour late (“Cory time”). 

In his spare time, he enjoyed target shooting with his friends and family, metal detecting for treasure, finding really odd (but perfect) gifts at thrift shops, and watching funny movies to quote many many times later. Cory loved staying busy, never met a stranger, and found interest in so many random things, but aside from being with his family, he loved being outdoors most. 

In the words of his dear friend, “He was so strong, such a positive attitude, a great husband, the best friend and a beautiful son. Someone everyone can and should look up to”. His silly jokes and unwavering love will be missed dearly by all. 

A visitation will be held from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm with service immediately following, Saturday, December 20th, at Gooch Funeral Home, 112 W. Howard Street, Rockville.
