Diana “Terese” Jones, 48, of Rosedale, passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at her residence. She was born March 9, 1976, in Clinton, Indiana, the daughter of Richard Shorter and Denise Kelley-Jones. Terese married Tom Jones on January 12, 2002. They renewed their vows on January 12, 2019.

She was a 1994 graduate of Rockville High School, Terese graduated from Purdue with a degree in Special Education (specifically for Extremely Handicapped EH). She began teaching in and around Terre Haute, Indiana working with special needs children. While still teaching, she obtained her master’s degree in education from Indiana State. She has worked tirelessly to help improve the lives of her students so they may lead meaningful and productive lives in society despite their challenges. Terese taught Special Education at Farrington Grove Elementary School in the Vigo County School Corporation. She retired in 2020.

Terese is survived by her husband Tom Jones of Rosedale; 2 sons, Erin Jones of Terre Haute, and Chance Jones (Mya) of Carbon; daughter, Britany Ann Jones of Defiance, Ohio; father, Richard Shorter (Kim) of Rockville; and mother, Denise Kelley-Jones (Paul) of Pendleton, Indiana. Also surviving are her brother, Dean Shorter of West Terre Haute; grandmothers, Mary A. Runyan of Blanford, and Alene Jones of Pendleton; and nephew, Liam Shorter of West Terre Haute.

Terese is preceded in death by grandfathers, William R. Shorter, and Jack Jones, and grandparents, Mike and Rita Kelley.

Funeral Services will be on Monday, April 1, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Barnes and Rice Funeral Home, 111 East High Street, Rockville, Indiana. Visitation will be Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in New Discovery Cemetery.
