William Arthur "Bill" Earl, 84, of Greencastle passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2015. 

Bill was born on April 18, 1931 in Parke County to George Earl and Mildred Aikin Earl.

He was a 1949 graduate of Rockville High School, serving as the Valedictorian of his class.

Bill served as Past Master of the Catlin Masonic Lodge, and was a Master Mason. He was a current member of the Montezuma Masonic Lodge #89.

He retired from the engineering department of IBM with 28 years of service.

Bill enjoyed spending the winters in Florida at Hutchinson Island. He was an accomplished handyman.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Dolores J. Earl; and two sisters, Grace Lightle and Roberta Wolfe.

Surviving are his children, Jo Ellen Cook and husband Bruce, Vicki Kallner and husband Ken, and William A. "Bill" Earl, II and wife Joan; his best friend and companion, Penny Collins; two sisters, Bonnie Riddle, and Marilyn Nikel and husband John; a brother, Robert Earl and wife Mary; nine grandchildren, Marli Emenhiser and husband Matt, Lindsay Striegel and husband Brad, Andrew Hamm, Ashley Downing, Katie Muegge and husband Nick, Shelby Earl, Kelcy Cook and wife Brittanie, Kevin Cook and fiancée Chelsea, and Kyla Cook and fiancée Jason; and six great-grandchildren, Madison, Makenna, Lucas, Adelyn, Logan, and Mia.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 30, 2015 from 9 AM until 11 AM at Bittles & Hurt Funeral Home.

Services will be private with interment in Forest Hill Cemetery.
