Jim Warren

James Nelson Warren, 91, of Rockville, passed away Tuesday afternoon, July 5th, 2016 in his residence of 59 years.

Jim was born February 13, 1925 on a dairy farm near Beechwood Park in Rockville, the youngest of twelve children to Malon Sam Warren and Dicy Jane Nelson Warren. His family operated the dairy farm for 28 years, delivering milk twice daily by horse and wagon, every day of the week, once daily in winter months.

Jim graduated from Rockville High School in 1943, stayed on the dairy farm working with his father and brothers. He enlisted in 1948 in the Indiana National Guard, serving until 1959 as Master Sergeant,Grade E-7.  He married Winifred Alice Batty on March 11, 1949. She preceded him in death on August 28, 2014. Jim had worked at Colonial Brick Mfg., Stevenson's Lumber Co., Funk Seeds and retired from Rockville National Bank as Asst. Cashier.  Jim's fondest activity was roller skating. He was a skate guard at JJ's Skatawa Rink in Rockville in the late 60's and early 70’s. Jim continued to work part time in helping Lester and Gladys Butler in Butler Funeral Home.  He was devoted and enjoyed meeting, greeting, and comforting families and friends at their time of personal loss for more than 27 years.  Butler Funeral Home and staff have lost a beloved friend. 

Jim belonged to the Rockville Christian Church and the Parke Masonic Lodge #8.  Jim's life centered around his beloved family.  Winnie and Jim traveled to many activities and athletic events of grand and great-grandchildren.

Jim is survived by three daughters, Cheryl Ann (Bill) Thompson, Melinda Sue Lientz, Kimberly Jo (Bruce) Hartman, all of Rockville.  Six grandchildren, Travis (Jenny) Vauters, Jayanna (Mike) Grubb, Kaci (Eric) Halfhill, Kali Lientz ,  Steven Hartman and preceded by Derek Hartman, four great-grandchildren, Cody Vauters, Tayler Vauters, Oakleigh Wyatt, and Gatlen Halfhill.  Seven deceased brothers, Oscar Everett, Chester Eugene, Arthur B., Marshall Ray, Garvie Russell, and Dennis Edward, infant brother, four sisters, Mattie Alice, Lucy Belle, Opal Marie, and Iva Mae.

Funeral Services to honor Jim's memory will be Monday, July 11, 2016 at 10 a.m. in Butler Funeral Home, 218 N. College St., Rockville, IN., with Pastor Don Hatfield officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Garden Cemetery, Rockville. Visitation will be Sunday, July 10, 2016, 2 to 6pm at the Funeral Home. Memorials in lieu of flowers, to honor Jim's memory may be made to Derek Hartman Memorial Fund, c/o Kimberly Hartman, 906 Oak Drive, Rockville, In. 47872.  Envelopes will be available at the Funeral Home.
