Paul Ellis

ROCKVILLE-Walter Paul Ellis, 84, of Rockville, Indiana passed away at 6:00 am Sunday, January 31, 2021 at Vermillion Convalescent Center in Clinton. 

He was a retired manager for Penstar Group Homes, owner of the Rockville Flower Shop for many years, served as minster for Harmony Church of Christ, antique dealer, auctioneer and was a teacher’s aide for Rockville High School. He was born March 30, 1936 is Shepardsville, Indiana to the late Sylvanus Ellis, Sr. and Naomi Bugher Ellis. His wife of 64 years, Barbara Farmer Ellis whom he married June 21, 1956 in Hammond, Indiana preceded him in death December 11, 2020. 

Survivors include two sons, William Ellis (Christopher Goodbeer ) of Bloomington and Ronald (Michele) Ellis of Clinton; two daughters, Terri Fisher of Arizona and Jodi (Mark) Jackson of Bloomingdale; one brother, Harvey (Marilyn) Ellis of Chesterton; special daughter in law, Barb Ellis of Terre Haute; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; special dog, Sophie; several nieces nephews and cousins. 

He was preceded in death by his foster parents, William and Etna Jones, step-father, Casmir Chavious, brothers, Richard Ellis and Sylvanus Ellis, Jr., sisters, Lois Stout and Alice Stash, son, Ricky Ellis and son-in-law Doug Fisher. 

He was a 1954 graduate of Rockville High School and attended Purdue University. He was a member of the Harmony Church of Christ, former Rockville Jaycees, Rockville Optimist Club and Parke County Bowling Association. He was past president of the Rockville Community School Board and Parke County Mental Health Association. He enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing, bowling, antiques and spending time with his grandchildren. 

Memorials should friends so desire, may be made to the Harmony Church of Christ, 3317 Mecca Road, Rockville, Indiana 47872 or the Parke County Mental Health Association, 215 N. Jefferson Street, Rockville, IN 47872 in his memory. 

The family will hold a celebration of life at a later date.
