ROCKVILLE- Mildred Smith, 89, of Rockville, Indiana died at 5:45 am Friday, April 20, 2012 at her residence. 

She was employed by the former Sanatorium Indiana Hospital for Chest Disease, an operator for the Indiana Bell Telephone Company and G.C. Murphy Company all in Rockville. 

For many years she was a cook for the Rockville Elementary School cafeteria. 

She was born April 28, 1922 in Parke County, Indiana to the late Ralph Pinegar and Blanche Kirkam Pinegar. 

She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-nine years, Cecil I. Smith whom she married June 29, 1944 and died April 3, 1994. 

Survivors include one son, Rodney D. Smith and his wife Linda of Rockville; two sisters, Patty Overpeck and Eleanor Lewis both of Rockville; one brother, Bill Pinegar of Tipton, Iowa; six grandchildren, Lori Uselman, Melissa Collins, Kevin Smith, Christy Lucas, Alisha and Tiffany Smith; twelve great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. 

She was also preceded in death by one son, Larry Smith, two grandchildren, Holly and Brody Smith; two brothers, Ralph Pinegar, Jr. and Harold Pinegar; one sister, Dorothy Ryder. 

She was a member of Rockville Christian Church. She was a 1940 graduate of Rockville High School. She loved to spend time with her family; enjoyed traveling and gardening. 

Services will be 11:00 am Monday, April 23, 2012 in Gooch Funeral Home, 112 West Howard Street, Rockville, with the Rev. Don Hatfield officiating. 

Burial will follow services in Memory Garden Cemetery, Rockville. 

Visitation will be 2-6 pm Sunday, April 22, at Gooch Funeral Home.
