Edyth Swaim (Carr)

Edyth F. Carr, 90, of Greenwood, passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2014.

The daughter of Ennis J. and Mattie J. Martin Swaim, Edyth was born April 9, 1923, in Rockville. After 20 years, she retired as a keypunch operator from Tee-Pak in Danville, Ill. Edyth was a member of Greenwood Christian Church and Southside Newcomers. She enjoyed playing cards, especially euchre and pinochle, and appreciated Big Band music.

Edyth is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Rita D. and Michael J. Tapp of Greenwood; grandsons, Brian R. (Karen) Tapp and Jason M. Tapp; and great-grandchildren, Brittany D., Adam M., Madelyn M. and Landon M. Tapp.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, Leo J. Mallas and Paul O. Carr.

A funeral service will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 5th at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Road 135, Greenwood. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Private inturnment will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.

Just to let you know that my mother, Edyth F. Swaim Carr (Class of 1941) passed away 4/2/14. I have the obit if you want me to e-mail it to someone. It also should be in the Rockville newspaper this week. The only picture hanging in her nursing home wall was the picture of the old high school and picture of classmates of RHS in 1941!!! I thought you might want to send out to alumni. She always enjoyed reading those e-mails when I printed them out for her. Thanks.
