Mary Margaret Cox (Skelton)

Mary Margaret Skelton, 91, of Rockville, Indiana died at 5:14 am Monday, July 13, 2015 at Creasy Springs Health Campus in Lafayette.

She was a homemaker and retired from the housekeeping department of Putnam County Hospital in Greencastle. 

She was born October 10, 1923 in Parke County, Indiana to the late Ben Cox and Farris Bradfield Cox. Her husband of 41 years, Frank Robert Skelton whom she married April 6, 1947 died August 18, 1988. 

Survivors include one son, John M. (Darlene) Skelton of Berwick, Louisiana; one daughter, Donna S. (James B.) Hoffner of Lafayette; son-in-law, Gary Meek of Crawfordsville; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; She was preceded in death by a daughter, Connie L. Meek on January 21, 2015. 

She was a 1941 graduate of Rockville High School. She was a member of the Rockville Christian Church where she sang in the choir and attended the Friendship Sunday school class. She was also a member of Home Economics Extension Club and the former Rockville Order of the Eastern Star #126. She was formerly employed as a clerk for G.C. Murphy Company the Indiana State Hospital for chest disease and volunteered for Billie Creek Village many years as the school teacher. 

Service will be 2:00 pm Thursday, July 16, at the Rockville Christian Church, 292 W. US Highway 36, Rockville, with the Rev. Patrick J. Fahey officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Garden Cemetery in Rockville. Visitation is from noon until 2:00 pm Thursday at Rockville Christian Church. 

Memorials should friends so desire, may be made to the Connie L. Meek Scholarship Fund in care of Montgomery County Community Foundation, 118 E. Market Street, Crawfordsville, IN 47933 in her memory. Care and arrangements entrusted to Gooch Funeral Home, Rockville.
