Betty J. Farner, 92, a lifelong resident of Rockville, Indiana passed away Friday, August 5, 2022, at Stonecroft Health Campus in Bloomington, Indiana. 

She was the retired owner-broker of Farner Realty in Rockville. 

She was born December 13, 1929, in Cayuga, Indiana to the late Harry Jaco and Zoe Mae Whipple Jaco. 

Her husband of 51 years, Carl “Tommy” Farner whom she married August 4, 1950, passed away July 9, 2002. 

Survivors include three great-nieces, Shawnee (Scott) Porter and sons, Luke and Gunnar of Bloomington, Taylor Lajiness and children, Brooklyn, Briley and Maverick of Crawfordsville, and Olivia Lighty of Indianapolis; three great nephews, Dane (Shirley) Selph and sons, Heath and Javen of Terre Haute, Keith Hamm of Bloomington and Brent (Leanne) Lighty of Indianapolis; one sister-in-law, Lelane Lighty of Crawfordsville; one brother-in-law, Dale Farner of Crawfordsville. 

She was preceded in death by a sister Helen Dooley, sister-in-law, Helen Hamm, nephew, Brad Lighty, niece, Carol Mellay and great-great nephew, Emerson Reid Scott Martin. 

She was a 1948 graduate of Rockville High School and Eldridge Real Estate School in Crawfordsville. She was employed 19 years with Indiana Bell Telephone Company as an operator and service representative in Rockville. She and her husband were partners with Tom-Be Laundromat and car wash in Rockville. She was a member of the Rockville Christian Church, Friendship Sunday school class, Christian Women’s Fellowship, Order of the Eastern Star chapter 177, Rainbow Girls, Gamma Sigma Chapter of Rockville Tri-Kappa, and Associate Tri-Kappa, Professional Businesswomen, Crawfordsville Board of Realtors, Rockville Women’s Club, Garden Club and Current Literature Club.  

Services will be 1:00 pm Tuesday, August 9, at Gooch Funeral Home, 112 W. Howard Street, Rockville with Kevin B. Jacks officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Garden Cemetery. Visitation is 11:00 am until 1:00 pm Tuesday at Gooch Funeral Home.
