Marilyn Sechi, age 70, died at home peacefully on Dec 6, 2024, losing her battle with lymphoma. Her loving husband and son were by her side at home.  Marilyn was born Nov 11, 1954, in Terre Haute IN to Paul and Mildred (Booth) Collings. She is survived by her husband Marvin, son Derek, sisters Margie Hall and Julie Hunt (Neil). In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter Deidre, and brother Ralph Collings.

Marilyn attended Indiana University in Bloomington IN where she received her BS Degree in Recreation and met Marvin. She worked until she had her children and then she stayed home full-time. She loved being a mother. In addition to giving her love and care to her own children, Marilyn shared her mothering love with over 100 children through Police Protective Custody and respite foster parenting.

Her love of music led her to play the piano for the Children’s Joyful Noise Choir and sing in the Adult Choir at Church of the Ascension. After her children were grown, she went back to work at the Johnson County Community College Cosmetology School and Salon where she continued to touch lives.

The best way to describe Marilyn would be by her faithfulness and love for God and her family. She attended 7:00am mass at Ascension EVERY day before her illness. Her love of the Eucharist was evident and she was always ready and willing to talk about the love of God to her friends and strangers alike. She was a walking, living and breathing, light of Christ. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her enduring spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know her.
