Elaine was a "best friend". Two days before she passed away, I was living in Florida and thinking of her. Not knowing how serious her condition was, I sent her an arrangement of flowers. She is still with us.
Elaine and I wrote passes for each other so we could "skip" an afternoon class. We were so scared we would get caught that we spent the afternoon locked in her house for fear we would! She was one of the sweetest girls in the class of 59 even though I had moved away at the end of my freshman year I still thought of her as a friend.
