Lawrence Randell “Skippy “ Harmless, 52, passed away Thursday, August 11, 2016 after a long battle with cancer. A funeral service will be conducted 2:00pm Tuesday in the Chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home with burial to follow at Knollwood Memorial Park.

Randy grew up on a large farm in Rockville, IN where, at the age of 16, he had started his own successful Spotted Hog Operation. He graduated from Rockville High School in 1982. After graduation and the sell of the family farm, he found his life work in construction. He has worked at many large commercial construction companies and was a part of the development of many buildings and churches in the Raleigh area including Crabtree Valley Mall and The Raleigh Art Museum. For the past 16 years, Randy’s career took him all over the U.S. doing natural disaster cleanup, power and restoration projects. In 2013, he became a member of the IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) and worked primarily for L.E. Myers replacing electric towers throughout the U.S.

He is survived by his wife and fishing partner of 24 years; Brenda Harmless, sons; Andrew Harmless and Gina Bera of Clayton, Adam Harmless of Raleigh, Roy Pierce and his wife Crystal of Gainsville, GA, daughter; Gina Pierce of Clayton, mother; Sharon Harmless Earl of Terre Haute, IN, sister; Kim Harmless Wade of Terre Haute, IN, half sister; Terri Magtoto of Brownsburg, IN, step mother, Olive Harmless of Veedersburg, grandchildren; Chloe pierce, Jasper Pierce, Colby Lee, Issac Lee and Audrey Grace Harmless. Mr. Harmless was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Harmless and his step father, David Earl.
