Ronald G. Hartman, 59, of Naples FL, passed away June 20, 2010 at Avow Hospice (Frances Georgeson Hospice House) in Naples. Ron was born March 16, 1951 in Clinton, IN, son of George W. and Mary R. Muir Hartman. He grew up in Rockville, IN with one sister, Constance, and one brother, Donald. Ron excelled in high school sports and was an avid sports fan throughout his life. Following graduation from Rockville High School, he earned a Bachelor's Degree in social work and English at Indiana State University, a Master's Degree in educational psychology at Ball State University, and completed post graduate studies in school psychology at Ball State University and Indiana University.

Following college, Ron worked as a school psychologist and consultant in Valparaiso, IN, then as an adjunct professor at Indiana University and an educational consultant for Rehabilitative Health Services in Indianapolis. He went on to become a state consultant with the Indiana Department of Education and was an active member of several professional organizations, including Indiana delegate to the National Association of School Psychologists, State Education Department representative, and president of the Indiana Psychological Association, Division of School Psychology. Ron earned National Certification in 1988 and held that designation throughout his career. He was also the recipient of many distinguished awards, including "Annual Service Award" for Outstanding Professional Services (two years), a "Presidential Award" for Outstanding Leadership as president, and a special award for "Raising Standards and Quality of Practice for School Psychological Services in Indiana."

Ron moved to Naples in 1987 and was employed as a school psychologist with Collier County Public Schools for nearly 22 years, until his retirement in 2009. Due to his understanding of the problems, strengths, and potential of education in psychology in schooling from the local school to the national level, he made important contributions toward making education work for the best interests of children, families, schools, and communities.
