ROCKVILLE- John Allen Montgomery, 63, of Rockville, Indiana died Monday, January 9, 2012 at his residence. 

He retired as the Superintendent for the Town of Rockville with 27 years of service. 

He was born March 27, 1948 in Clinton, Indiana to John L. Montgomery and Imogene Rusk Montgomery. 

Survivors include his mother of Rockville; also two sons, John A. Montgomery, II of Attica, Indiana and Travis Little of Crawfordsville, Indiana; four daughters, Julie A. Montgomery of Rockville, Indiana, Ashley M. Little of Crawfordsville, Indiana, Leslie A. Montgomery-Poe of Carthage, Missouri and Jennifer A. Montgomery of Terre Haute, Indiana; two brothers, Mark A. Montgomery of Franklin, Indiana and William A. Montgomery of Rockville, Indiana; one sister, Carol A. Klutts of Florence, Alabama; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his father on July 17, 1996 and a granddaughter, Makayla Poe in 2001.

He was a 1966 graduate of Rockville High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He loved the outdoors, flowers, gardening, woodworking, farming, raising animals, active with Future Farmers of America and true craftsman. He had a great artistic ability. He was a boxer in the Navy. He was also a member of the Malibu Band. 

A memorial gathering of family and friends will be from 1:00 pm until 7:00 pm Saturday January 14, in Gooch Funeral Home at 112 W. Howard Street, Rockville

Military honors will follow at 7:00 pm by Parke County Veterans. Memorials, should friends so desire, may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.

Joe Olson (1967)

 

Johnny and I were best friend. We traveled all over the state bailing hay and dipping sheep with Roy and C.L. Reedy.

Johnny and I were best friends. We traveled all over Indiana bailing hay for Paul Cottrell and dipping sheep for Roy Reedy. We were a great team! I miss him dearly.
