Ralph Heifner (1967)

Dick was a good team player in football and track for the Rox 67 Class and like his older brothers he was extremely strong for his size. Dick served with honor in an army mortar company in Viet Nam during which time he carried the very heavy base plate for the 81 mm. Only a man of strength and great will could carry so much weight in the heat and rough terrain in which he fought. The fact that he was chosen to carry the heaviest load speaks to Dick's strength and the fact that he continued to carry it speaks to Dick's unselflessness and as a great member of the combat team. Dick was the first of the class of "67" to see varsity action in football and number 72 held his own as a sophmore for the Rox and Dick was a stalwart on defense for the junior varsity that year. Dick was respectful to my parents, his teachers, and his classmates. I feel to be a son or daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Hill makes you something special. They are such good people each and everyone, and Dick was our own "Rox 67 Classmate". Rest in Peace
