Robert "Bob" Dean Thomas, 77, of Spencer, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at his residence. Bob was born on January 7, 1947 in Lebanon, Indiana to Herbert Wesp Thomas and Mildred Louise (Dean) Thomas. Bob spent many happy years in the Boy Scouts, mentored by his father. He amassed many badges, and achieved The Order of The Arrow as well as Eagle Scout. He graduated from Indiana State University with a Bachelor of Science, as well as a love for chemistry and physics. He eventually entered the paint industry, working for companies such as PPG and MAB Paints, as a paint chemist. 

From developing computer programs for the paint industry, he went on to develop software for companies such as CompuServe and Qualcomm. Along the way he achieved his Glider Pilot License. He developed a love of flying and with his love of adventure, Bob traveled to all 50 states. His joy for life, family and friends was evident in his bright smile, quick wit and youthful attitude. 

Bob is survived by his fiance, Sharon F. Steiner, son, Andrew "Andy" Thomas, daughter, Jennifer "Jen" (Bryan) Brockson, grandchildren, Chloe, Emily, Graham and Liam, and many extended family members and friends. 

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister Elizabeth Carrington. 

A Celebration of life will take place from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM, Saturday, June 15, 2024 at the West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home, 105 North Montgomery Street, Spencer. A sharing of memories will take place at 3:00 PM.
