Imogene Gooch, 93, of Rockville, Indiana passed away Thursday, January 12, 2023, in her residence.

She was the retired owner of Gooch’s Dairy Frost in Rockville.

She was born July 30, 1929, in Montezuma, Indiana to the late Elmer C. Cox and Flora Elizabeth Thomas Cox. Her husband of 64 years, Gerald D. Gooch whom she married October 18, 1950, in Rockville passed away December 30, 2014.

Survivors include one son, Joe (Caterina) Gooch of Rockville; one daughter, Jeri (Charles) Bartlow of Collierville, Tennessee; two sisters, Rozanne Berry of Wabash, and Joan Larson of Bettendorf, Iowa; five grandchildren, Mike (Rachel) Bartlow, Lori (Hunter) Niemi, Liz (Clay) Harrell, Jordan (Caty) Gooch and Jevin (Cari) Gooch; nine great-grandchildren, Evan, Cody and Makyla Bartlow and Bo and Reese Harrell, Parks and Jennings Niemi, Jessa and Jaxston Gooch; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jane Gooch on April 28, 2015, and a brother, Dale Cox and sister Louise Michael.

She was a 1947 graduate of Rockville High School and attended Indiana Business College.

She was a member of the Rockville Christian Church, Friendship Sunday school class, Red Hat Society and the Garden Club. She was an antique collector and enjoyed porcelain dolls. She taught quilting classes for many years and has three quilts in museums. She also made teddy bears. She and Gerald started the Tasty Freeze in Montezuma in 1963 operating it four years before purchasing the Dairy Frost in Rockville from her parents in 1967. In 1975 they discontinued car hop service and added a new dining room. They were known for Broasted Chicken and homemade hard ice cream that was made fresh each week. They enjoyed spending many winters in Florida.

Services will be 11:00 am Tuesday, January 17, at Gooch Funeral Home, 112 W. Howard Street, Rockville, with Senior Minister Josh Captain officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Garden Cemetery in Rockville. Visitation is from 6-8 pm Monday at Gooch Funeral Home.
