Julia was born Dec. 31, 1953, to the late Charles H. and Helen A. McCarty. She graduated from Rockville High School, William Woods College and DePauw University.

Julia taught art in both the Lafayette and Cloverdale school systems and later was proudly a stay at home mom. She loved cooking, party planning, decorating her home for all holidays and was the ultimate hostess.

Julia was a consummate volunteer for her churches, school systems and many various other civic organizations. She leaves a strong legacy of volunteer work.

Julia is survived by her husband, David, of 48 years; two sons, John (Amie, Will, Finn), Matthew (Kelly) Williams; and seven grandchildren, Bodie, Drew, Hadley, Annie, Charles, James and Mary.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. with a short service to follow on Sunday, June 22 at the Greencastle Presbyterian Church, 653 S. CR 100 East, Greencastle.
