TERRE HAUTE- Macy Gordon Rowe, 89, of Terre Haute, Indiana died at 10:30 pm Monday, October 13, 2014 at Signature Heathcare in Terre Haute.

He was a retired manager of Ermisch Cleaners in Terre Haute with 35 years of service. 

He was born June 22, 1925 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Forrest Campbell Rowe and Inez Del Hazelbaker Rowe. His wife of 66 years, Peggy L. Goodman Rowe whom he married November 22, 1947 in Clinton survives. Also surviving two daughters, Nancy (Gary) Alkire of West Terre Haute and Cynthia (Virgil) Porter of West Terre Haute; one son, Neal (Cindy) Rowe of Terre Haute; two brothers, Jack (Cindy) Rowe of Ohio and Rodney (Alice) Rowe of Kentucky; eight grandchildren, Rebecca (Norman) Brossman, Beth Pershing, Bonnie Porter, Erin Fagg, Kristen Lewis, Ryan (Gabe) Greve, Carolyn Rowe and Patrick Rowe; one step-grandson, Lance( Aubrey) White; 13 great-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and two on the way. He was preceded in death by his step-father, Pearlie Meredith Rowe, brothers, Jerry, Cole, Jesse, Cody and twin brother, George Rowe.

He was a 1943 graduate of Bellmore High School. He served with the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII from 1943 to 1945 with his twin brother George by his side. He was a member of the Rockville Memorial Presbyterian Church, American Legion Fellenzer post 48 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Paul Taylor post 1752 both in Rockville and bowled for Ermisch Cleaners at Vigo Bowl. He was an Indiana University, Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears Fan. He enjoyed hunting morel mushrooms.

He was a great family man, devoted father and husband. A member of the "Greatest Generation" and a survivor of the great depression. 

Services will be 11:00 am Friday, October 17, at Gooch Funeral Home, 112 W. Howard Street, Rockville with the Rev. Carl Huxford officiating. Burial will follow with military graveside honors by Parke County Veterans at Memory Garden Cemetery, Rockville. Visitation is from 9:00 am until 11:00 am Friday at Gooch Funeral Home.
