Cynthia Sharer (Richey)

Cynthia Lou Richey, 71, of Clinton passed away at 12:14pm, August 11, 2022, in her home.  She was born in Parke County Indiana, January 12, 1951, to Virgil Sharer and Peal Torbert Sharer.  She thought her birthday was January 16, 1951, most of her life.  After that many children, I guess her mother was tired and got the date wrong and the courthouse with her birth certificate burned down.

She found this out many years later while trying to get retirement benefits. So, she’d laugh, and we’d celebrate the whole week.  She worked may places in Clinton when she lived here many years ago, last one being Terra Villa; she worked there until she met and married the love of her life, her soul mate, she called him.  They then moved to LaVergne, TN, where she lived happily with her husband David “Lee” Richey for 24 years until he passed away in January.  She then moved back to Clinton with her family to live out the rest of her days.  She was a member of the 69ers group in Rockville and was so excited to be back and get to meet with them monthly.  She loved Bingo, and anything gambling related and her family and friends dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband David “Lee” Richey (1/26/22).  She was also preceded in death by her sisters; Darlean Burks, Florence Green, Ruth Mulvihill, Betty Martin, Helen Finny, Rose Sharer, Judy Harper and one brother Albert “Butch” Sharer.

Cindy is survived by one son Eric (Michelle) Kanizer of Clinton, one daughter; Mary (Jeff) Leister of Clinton, 3 stepsons; Jon (Dawn) Kanizer of Clinton, David (Sarah) Kanizer of Owasso, OK, Jody (Melissa) Kanizer of Effingham, IL and all their children and grandchildren.  One stepdaughter; Courtney Richey of Florida.  Three grandchildren, Mercedees (Cody) Jacobs of Clinton, Trinity (Keith) McManus of Paris, IL and their children, and Erica Kanizer of Clinton.  One Sister; Shirley (Ben) Ludlow of Hillsboro, Indiana.  Also, several nieces and nephews and her best friend in Tennessee, Brenda Photivihok, whom she loved like a sister.

Per her request cremation was chosen without services.
