LINDEN- Howard C. "Woody" Wood, 75, of Linden and formerly of Rockville died at 1:10 am Saturday, January 12, 2008 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Lafayette.
He was retired from Rockville Training Center with thirty years of service. He was born July 10, 1932 in Rockville to the late Charles William Alfred Wood and Wilma Lucille Lineberry Wood.
Survivors include four sons, Mike (Kelly) Wood of Lafayette, Doug (Amanda) Wood of Rockville, Marvin Wood of Rockville and Bill (Re) Wood of Lockwood, NY; two daughters, Darlene (Chuck) Tuft of Rockville and Debbie (John) Spray of Bloomingdale; one sister, Louise Batchelor and one nephew, Charles Ray Batchelor both of Tacoma WA; twenty-one grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of forty-six years, Salena "Nedra" Cohen Wood whom he married June 29, 1959 in Rockville and died May 24, 2006 and preceded by one grandchild.
He was a member of the Rockville First Baptist Church. He was a 1950 graduate of Rockville High School. He enjoyed collecting antiques including glassware and coins, he played several instruments and played in a band.
Cremation was chosen. Memorial graveside services will be 1:00 pm Saturday, January 19, 2008 at Poplar Grove Cemetery in Marshall, Indiana with Rev. Dana J. Spurgeon officiating. Inurnment will follow. Memorial contributions, if friends so desire, may be made to American Lung Association, 1400 East Pugh Dr., Terre Haute, IN 47802. Care and cremation entrusted to Gooch Funeral Home, Rockville.
