Roy Smith

ROCKVILLE- Roy Junior Smith, 83, of Rockville, Indiana died at 11:00 pm Sunday, March 20, 2016 in his residence.

He was self-employed having owned and operated Smitty's Sinclair and Smitty's Circle Inn 66 Service Stations and the Parke Bridge Motel all in Rockville. He also worked for Hoosier Court Standard and Bill Brown Shell Service Station both in Rockville.

He was born January 22, 1933 in Linden, Indiana to the late Roy C. Smith and Clarcie Dunkin Smith.

Survivors include his children, Cherie Wendell of Oakwood, Illinois, Cindy Pedigo of Indianapolis, Nick Smith of Avon, Robin Taylor of Rockville and Derek Smith of Bloomingdale; one sister, Gracie Cruthers of Riley; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Cecil I. Smith and Bill Smith, one sister, Maxine Golden.

He was a 1950 graduate of Rockville High School. He was a pitcher for the Mecca Softball team and was inducted into the Mecca Softball Hall of Fame. He was a citizens band (CB) radio operator, enjoyed motorcycles, boating and woodworking as a hobby.

Services will be 1:00 pm Wednesday, March 23, at Gooch Funeral Home, 112 W. Howard Street, Rockville with Pastor Scott McCurdy officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Garden Cemetery, Rockville. Visitation is from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm Wednesday.
