ROCKVILLE- Dorothy Maxine Monts, 92, of Rockville, Indiana died at 8:30 pm Friday, September 28, 2012 in St. Vincent Heart Center of Indiana. 

She was a homemaker and a retired teacher's aide for Rockville Elementary School. 

She was born February 3, 1920 in Parke County, Indiana to the late Lee Sadler and Myrtle Lulu Rigdon Sadler. 

Her husband of 55 years, John William Monts whom she married April 12, 1941 in West Terre Haute died March 28, 1997. 

Survivors include three sons, John B. (Belinda) Monts of Ladoga, Indiana, Ronald D. (Mary) Monts of Danville, Indiana, Jerry L. (Carol Whitecotten) Monts of Terre Haute, Indiana; one daughter, Darlene (Tony) Reeder of Rockville, Indiana; eight grandchildren, Bryan (Debbie) Monts, Brad (Karen) Monts, Ryan (Carrie) Monts, Megan (Jeff) Sankey, Rachael (Kurt) Walden, Scott (Deanne) Monts, Amy (Ed) McCalister and Erin (Don) Vita; 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Kelsey Nicole Monts on December 8, 1991, brothers Otto and Jesse Sadler. 

She was a 1939 graduate of Rockville High School. She was an active member of Rockville Christian Church, Friendship Sunday School Class, Happy Hours Extension Club, Parke County Quilters, Friendship Club and Parke County Historical Society. She volunteered many years for the Cub, Boy and Girl Scouts of America, Parke County Food Pantry and participated weekly with the Sack Lunch program at Ivy Tech Community College Rockville campus. She was a former member of Order of Eastern Star chapter 126 and Rainbow Girls chapter 43 of Rockville. 

Services will be 11:00 am Tuesday, October 2, in Gooch Funeral Home at 112 W. Howard Street, Rockville, with the Rev. Don Hatfield officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Garden Cemetery, Rockville. Visitation is from 4-8 pm Monday at Gooch Funeral Home.
