Dr. John Louis Tofaute, MD, age 84 years, passed away on August 9, 2019 in Southgate, Michigan surrounded by friends and family. John was born in Rockville, Indiana to Mac Daniel Tofaute and Eleanor (Burton) Tofaute.

John was a graduate of Rockville High School, Purdue University, and Indiana University Medical School. He practiced as a board-certified Orthopedic Surgeon. In recent years, he practiced as a Medical Legal expert.

John enjoyed fishing, the arts, and was an avid reader. John enjoyed nature, the arts and especially fishing with his Father and Brother George. He touched many lives and will be missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by four children, John Michael Tofaute of Phoenix, Arizona, Suzanne Argenta (Reynold, deceased) of Southgate, Michigan, Julie Exley (Rick) of Phoenix, Arizona, and Steve Tofaute of Carmel, Indiana, grandsons John Quinkert (Melissa) of Brownstown, Michigan, Reece Tofaute of Carmel, Indiana, granddaughter Marlie Tofaute of Carmel Indiana. He is also survived by one brother, Attorney George Tofaute (Wanda) of Terre Haute, Indiana. Also surviving are niece Annette Henderson (Dan) of Louisville, Kentucky, nephews Phillip Tofaute (Lynnette) of Terre Haute, Indiana and David Tofaute (Kathy) of Louisville, Kentucky, great nieces and nephews include Kristyn Smith (Kenneth), Ben Tofaute (Julia), Alex Henderson (Sara), Emily Tofaute of Louisville, Kentucky, and Preston Tofaute and Spence Tofaute of Terre Haute, Indiana.

A celebration of John's life will be attended by family only. Memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project or a charity of your choice.
