Carol Teschmacher (Cooper) (1965)

Rosemary graduated from Rockville High School (1953) and attended Indiana State University the 1953-54 academic year on an art scholarship. When she returned to ISU for the Fall Semester, 1954, one of her last letters home detailed the fact that she had been feeling 'ill'. She had contracted Polio, and died in October, 1954. She was very much loved and missed by family and friends. She was well on the way to becoming an artist, already demonstrating her talents through various medium. Upon her death, her mother 'took up' painting and continued to carry Rosemary's artistic interests throughout her life as a tribute to her daughter. Marguerite Teschmacher painted until she was unable to do so (October, 1991) and also died in April, 1993. Rosemary's sister, Susan, continues to paint today, being a well-known Parke County artist. Susan maintains many of Rosemary and Marguerite's artwork today.

Written by Carol Teschmacher Cooper (RHS 1965).
