Dean (Harold) White

Harold “Dean” White, 81, of Rockville and formerly of Heltonville, passed away Sunday, June 9 peacefully at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born March 25, 1938 in Lawrence County, Indiana to the late Olin White and Ruth Terrill White. His wife of 50 years, Vickie Reynolds White, whom he married February 1, 1969 in Bedford, Indiana, survives.

Dean graduated from Rockville High School in 1957. He was a telephone repairman with AT&T, originally Indiana Bell where he worked for 37 years. After he retired he continued to install phone lines and satellite dishes for many years. He attended Otterbein Methodist Church in Bellmore. He was a member of the AT&T Telephone Pioneers of America, the Montezuma Chapter #537 Order of Eastern Star and Past Master of Parke Lodge #8 of Rockville. 

Dean enjoyed reminiscing about his younger days. He loved to hunt and fish with his boys. He also enjoyed maintaining a well groomed lawn as well as his gardening. 

Survivors include his children, Doug (Jerri) White and Diane (Jeff) Ivan both of Phoenix, Arizona; Brad (Kim) White of Rosedale and Kent (Leah) White of West Lafayette; a sister Kay (John) Timm of Rockville; seven grandchildren, Olivia Ivan, Dominic Ivan, Grace White, Madeline White, Ashley (Zach) Norman, Kristin (Tyler) Busenbark and Thomas Soltermann; three great-grandchildren, Sophia, Emma and Isabella Norman; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by daughter, Debra Lou White; siblings, David (Cheryl) White Fleetwood, Edna (Keith) Parr, Dewey (Darlene) White and infant bothers, Leroy and Walter.

Memorial services will be 2:00 pm Saturday, June 15, at Gooch Funeral in Rockville with David Armstrong officiating. Inurnment will follow in Memory Garden Cemetery, Rockville. Memorial visitation is from 12 noon until 2:00 pm Saturday at Gooch Funeral Home.
