Jean Summerville (Albrecht) - Class Of 1945 VIEW PROFILE

Jean Summerville (Albrecht)

(Norma) Jean Summerville Albrecht, long time Rockville resident passed away on July 13 in Maple Grove MN at the home of her daughter, Susan Elaine ( Albrecht) Adams. She is survived by her son, Charles Albrecht (Mary) of Pewaukee, WI; daughter, Elaine (Rick); grandsons Bruce (Sigita) of Boston, MA; , Jon (Liz) and Tom Hartung of Minneapolis, MN; Kurt Albrecht (Shannon) of Genesee, WI; Sam Albrecht of Terre Haute, IN.

Jean was employed by Bell Telephone as an operator, Insley Drugs as pharmacy clerk, Dormeyer Industries as production scheduler, from where she retired. Her husband Richard (Dick) Albrecht passed in 1974. Her son, Richard (Rick) Albrecht passed in 2008. Born September 9, 1927, she graduated from Rockville High School in 1945. She was a member of Rockville Christian Church. She will be remembered for her prolific crocheting and knitting and for the love she demonstrated for her family. She will be interred with family members at Bono Chapel, near Dana, IN on August 3 at 11:00 a. m. The family prefer that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.

Jean was a calm, thoughtful patient, and gentle soul, but when aroused by thoughtlessness or injustice, particularly to her children, she could be, shall we say, forceful. Her neighbors and co-workers knew her to take the initiative to complete tasks and to finish them promptly and fully. She was a very good neighbor and friend, always ready to lend assistance. At Anderson Green in Rockville, the common room often benefitted from the hot dishes she prepared for weekly lunches.

Her son, Charlie, asked several years ago, “Mom, was there some association of parents that called one another to share news of the kids’ shenanigans? You always just waited by the door when I came in and I’d confess to any misdeeds.” “No,” she replied, “all I had to do was to see the look on your face and then wait.”
