Kristy & I bought my family’s farm which has been in the family since 1836. We raise corn, soybeans, & lots of hay. App. 12,000 square bales & 500 roundbales a year. We sell most of the hay in In. & Ill. We also have a horse & carriage business. We do weddings, corperate functions, &Christmas carriage rides in surrounding city’s. Kristy & Lacy also have a catering business; (Country Home Catering). If you have ever attended the allclass reunion in the summer, then you have ate their food. Hope you enjoyed the meals. (I have nothing to do with food. Thank God.) Lacy & Colten have 9 beehives and sell their honey to several customers and always have some for sale. Lacy was selected as the 2011 Indiana Honeyqueen. She traveled over 9,000 miles last year and spoke to more than 39,000 people through out Indiana promoting honey. She was also at the Indiana State fair all 17 days for the In. Honeybee Association. She did interviews with WISH TV 8 & WTHI TV 10 and several radio stations newspapers through out IN. (notice she isn’t afraid to talk in front of people like her dad is.) Takes after her mom I guess. I watched her give a 45 minute speech in front of 600 people & then answer questions for 30 minutes. I was nervous just watching her. In January of this year, she had the honor of represting the state of Indiana in the American HoneyQueen Pagent in Los Vegas Nev. She had 5 days of speechs and interviews with the judges. All the queens from each state were there to represent their state. On Saturday night they crowned the American HoneyQueen. Miss Pennsylvania was chosen the queen. Lacy made the TOP 5. We were so proud of her. A little girl from Parke County competing for a national title. Glad we got to see Vegas once in my life. Don’t know if again, countryboy in Vegas?
Colten loves racing He is 6.5” tall and has no interest in basketball.(go figure.) For the last 4 years he races 600 series sprintcars. His home track is Bakersfield racetrack in Linton In. For the last two years he has finished 2nd in points in the nonwinged class & 3rd in the winged class. There are approximately 30 cars in each class. He races at other tracks in In. & Ill. When time allows. He wants to move into USAC sprintcars. Three things stopping him are time , sponsorship, & MONEY. He has two sponsors for his car that he runs now. Just need to find a sponsor with dusty money laying around. Ya right ha, ha. So far Kristy & I haven’t had to many free days. That’s ok, it keeps us on the go and keeps me from thinking how old I am.
