Nancy Swaim

Discovering...when you grow up on a farm in the 40's, much of the world is a mystery and I didn't know enough to study my natural surroundings.
Learning...politics, religion, economics, quantum mechanics, poetry, art and other unseemly matters have flitted around in my mind.
I earned a living working in the disabilities system, both in policy and in direct services to people who have disabilities; and raised three daughters who are each women of strength, giggles and dignity; and built a house back on the farm in 2000.

Hmmm, something I remember is the Dickerson family and our perception that they were part of our school and community, the beginnings of the civil rights struggles during our high school years, and the fact that we never talked about this. Actually it seems we celebrated our simplicity by never talking about current events or dissent, to the detriment of our development as human beings. Still, there are wonderful people in our class and in our town.
