Ivan Doan

FRANKFORT- Ivan W. Doan, 65, of Frankfort, Indiana and formerly of Rockville, Clinton and Montezuma, Indiana died at 6:48 pm Saturday, April 26, 2014 at St. Vincent Frankfort Hospital.

He was a retired nursing home administrator, serving the communities of Logansport, Monticello, Huntington, Peru, Rushville, Lawrenceburg, Richmond and Frankfort, Indiana. 

He was born January 14, 1949 in Clinton, Indiana to the late Glen Doan and Roberta Asbury Doan. 

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Claudia Hartman Doan whom he married June 6, 1970 in Bridgeton; also surviving, one son, Carl M. (Brittany) Doan of Charleston Air Force Base, South Carolina; one daughter, Jennifer (Kurt) Gano of Stevensville, Michigan; one brother, Bob (Esther) Doan of Roachdale, Indiana; one sister, Janet (Jim) Robbins of Lebanon, Indiana; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Doan of Lawrenceburg, Indiana; three grandchildren, Taylor Ann Doan, Nolan Doan and Carl E. Gano; four step-grandchildren, Alec, Kimber and Audrey Nieusma and Barbara Gano; several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Glen Ray and John Doan; one sister, Eula Mae Hall. 

He was a 1967 graduate of Rockville High School, Indiana State University with an accounting and business degree. He received his Administrator Training at Vermillion Convalescent Center in Clinton under David Olson. He was employed by Parke County Farm Bureau Co-op as office manager, Atkinson Ice Company in Sullivan, Farm Bureau Insurance in Rockville and Branson Insurance in Rockville and Clinton. He was of the Protestant faith. He was a member of Rockville Elk's lodge #2471, Clinton Lions Club, Clinton Optimist Club, Monticello Kiwanis Club, and several area Chamber of Commerce's. He served on the board for Counsel of Aging in Monticello.

He enjoyed golf, mushroom hunting, the outdoors, and being a family man. He was a very unselfish giving person. He was a teller of tall tales, bad jokes and fish stories. 

Services will be 2:00 pm Thursday, May 1, in Gooch Funeral Home at 112 W. Howard Street, Rockville, with Pastor Jack E. Hopkins officiating. Burial will follow at Clear Run Cemetery in Bridgeton. Visitation is 4-8 pm Wednesday at Gooch Funeral Home.
