Ron Monts

Ronald D. Monts, 77 of Danville, passed away on February 27, 2024. He was born on February 20, 1947 in Rockville, Indiana, to the late D. Maxine (Sadler) and John Monts. He married Mary Lynn Saddler on June 05, 1971 in Danville. Ron graduated from Rockville High School in 1965, served in the National Guard, and was a member of Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Danville. He worked at Hendricks Power Cooperative for 44 years as the Director of Marketing and Economic Development, retiring in 2013. Ron was a member of the Rotary Club of Danville and former member of Danville Jaycees, Optimist Club, Hendricks County Economic Development, and Danville Chamber of Commerce. He also served on the Danville Board of Zoning Appeals and on the 4-H Advisory Board. Ron was extremely civic-minded and loved pouring his energy into the community. He spent countless hours on the remodel of the Gill Pool in the 1980s with the Optimist Club and more recently he helped with the development of Jack Willard Community Park with the Rotary Club, among many other community projects over the years.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Mary Monts of Danville; children, Ryan Monts (Carrie) of West Chester, Ohio, Megan Sankey (Jeff), Dr. Rachael Walden (Kurt), both of Danville; grandchildren, Christian and Makaela Monts, Alivia, Camden, and Kinleigh Sankey, Callie and Colt Walden; sister, Darlene Reeder (Tony) of Rockville. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Jan Saddler of Indianapolis, Robin Saddler of Danville, Belinda Monts of Ladoga, Carol Monts of Terre Haute; and several nieces and nephews. His parents; brothers, John and Jerry Monts; and brothers-in-law, Paul and Joseph Saddler, preceded him in death.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Doctors Chawla, Bolla, and Givens along with all of their nurses and support staff for their incredible care over the last three years. We would also like to thank Life’s Journey Hospice for the care he received during his last days.

Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 pm on Thursday, March 07, 2024 at Baker Funeral Home in Danville. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, March 08, 2024 at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Danville, with inurnment to follow at Mill Creek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church 1005 W Main St Danville, IN 46122 or Danville Rotary Foundation. Johnny Swalls (1965)

Ron was my buddy in high school and he was friends with All the girls and the guys.
I always relied on him as a good Friend!  Johnny Swalls

Robert Baxter (1965)

Ronnie Monts received the Mary Moscan Art Award on Senior Awards Night. I was assigned the job of marking sure he attended that evening.  He was a great guy always up for anything and a friend to all.
